Dannie, a Russian electronic manufacturer and developer has tested the first MBXZ60A motherboards based in Chinese Zhaoxin processors. These solutions can be used for many office tasks.
The MBXZ60A board comes in Micro-ATX format and has an 8-core Zhaoxin KXU6780A integrated processor. These SoCs are a “system-on-a-chip” which does not require an additional chipet. The chip includes eight CPU cores that can run at 2.7GHz, a memory controller and 16 controllers for USB, PCI Express 3.0 and SATA. Each processor core comes with 32 KBs of L1 cache. Two 4 MB L2 cache clusters can be used for eight cores. This chip does not support multithreading technology and L3 cache. An integrated graphics core supports DirectX 11.1. By order from the Chinese government, the processor was manufactured at TSMC using 16nm technology. The MBX-60A board is equipped with two DDR4 RAM slot (DDR4-2133/2400/3200 modules can be supported), two PCIe x16 Slots, one M.2 connector that supports 2242/2260/2280 NVe drives, and another M.2 to install the Wi Fi and Bluetooth wireless modules.
Four SATA III connectors (6GB/s) are used for the permanent memory subsystem. Realtek 8211F gigabit networking controller and Realtek ALC662 codec for audio with support for 5.1 channel audio were also included in the novelty. The external interfaces of the MBX-Z60A are represented by four USB 2.0 and four USB 3.0 connectors, as well as VGA (1920 × 1200 pixels at 60 Hz), HDMI (3840 × 2160 and 30 Hz) and DisplayPort (3840 × 2160 and 30 Hz) outputs. The board dimensions are 225 × 205 mm.
The Geekbench 5 tests show that the Zhaoxin KXU6780A processor scored 355 points in single-threaded testing and 2187 points for multi-threaded. The novelty is far away from the Intel Core i3-12100 processor, which scored 1745 points and 6565 in the same tests, respectively. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 has the closest comparison in single thread and scores the same 355 points. The multi-core test yields comparable results for the quad-thread and dual-core AMD Athlon 300GE, as well as the quad core Core i5-2500, which give 2144 and 2214 respectively.
The Chinese chip earns 50 points in the JetStream2 Test, which measures JavaScript’s performance and WebAssembly’s performance in web browsers.
Dannie’s CEO stated that “These solutions can be a real salvation for Russia’s electronics market“. He says that the boards can be used to perform a wide range of office tasks. They are recommended for employees of mass professions like accountants, bank employees, employees at common service centers, tellers, and specialists working with applications. In today’s reality, the solutions have a strong anti-sanction appeal.
