Jorg Neumann, the lead developer of Microsoft Flight Simulator, spoke to Video Games Chronicle about how he showed the simulator to Phil Spencer, the head Microsoft’s gaming direction.
Neumann said that he took the Microsoft Flight Simulator demo with him to Microsoft Headquarters in Seattle. The presentation featured flying over the same building from the game.
“I flew over the Microsoft campus – the very building where we sat and talked – and [Спенсер] I was like “Why aren’t you showing me the video from Seattle?” Then, I realized that he was “on my hook”.Neumann recalls.
Spencer was skeptical of the developer. “Then I tell him that [игра работает] He replied in real-time, “No, this cannot be.” We were holding something very special. The room was not interested in sims, but everybody got excited.”.
Microsoft Flight Simulator was launched in August 2020 to great critical acclaim. Neumann says that the game’s success is due to its detailed simulation of Earth.
“When we graduated. [среди покупателей] Some people didn’t love or respect planes but enjoyed the planet. This is a major feature. It was she who attracted new people.”Neumann explained.
