Twitter, a microblogging platform, is testing a new “Author Liked”, tag that will show up when an author “likes” one of the comments. TechCrunch reported on a new feature in Twitter’s next Android update.
A spokesperson from the social network confirmed that it is currently testing different tagging Tweets to help users understand which content is being viewed. Twitter declined further comment. The new feature is very simple at the moment. When a thread creator “likes” a comment, an icon appears under the comment. This icon can be seen by both the comment author and all participants in the discussion. Although the exact location of the test is not known, there are reports that the function was discovered in several countries.
It is worth noting that Twitter’s tag is very similar to the TikTok icon for “liked by author”, which appears when a comment has been “liked” or “liked” by creators of the video. The innovation can lead to messages on Twitter becoming too full of proprietary information. Community members might be happy to see a “like” mark from a celebrity. It can be helpful when an author of a long thread wishes to highlight comments without responding to them. Unfortunately, this feature will not be made available to everyone anytime soon.
