Elon Musk appears to be working on a new way for Twitter to make money. This service is currently in an experimental phase. It uses an app currency called “coins” that allows creators to monetize the platform.
Their posts claim that the coins extend a Twitter tip functionality. The researchers published an image showing that coins can be used to support creators of content on Twitter.
Jane Manchun Wong, an app researcher, and Nima Okiji, a regular blogger about yet to be launched apps, provided the information.
They can be used to send tips, but also to buy gifts for other users.
Twitter’s plans for coins are not clear and no information is available about when they will debut. These images indicate that Twitter is at least considering the implementation of coins.
Wong shared this image that shows how users can purchase gifts starting at 1 coin and ending at 5,000 coins. Elon Musk has not publicly discussed the new system but has said several times that he hopes to encourage creators on the platform.
