The microblog Does It Play? is the author. It tests new games for their ability to run without an Internet connection. NotifiedThe disk version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the military shooter, is also available for download. It was released today (October 28) and requires a minimum of 100 GB.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 retail edition (at least for the PlayStation 5) has 72 MB of physical media. This is less than 1% of 4K UHD Bluray discs that are supported by the new Sony console.
This means that disc buyers will need to download nearly the entire game and then have it ready to go to run it. Modern Warfare 2’s box says it’s 70GB. However, updates have increased that number to more than 100GB. This is before Warzone 2.0 was even released.
Does It Play? claims that 99 percent of disc-based video games do not require an online download to be played. Those that do require an online download don’t usually need to download the entire client. Modern Warfare 2 lets you choose which components (campaign, multiplayer, etc.) to install.
