Nike doesn’t despair despite the declining market for NFT assets and cryptocurrencies. The manufacturer launched the.SWOOSH web3 platform to implement its plan. This allows you to buy, sell, and exchange virtual clothes, shoes, and footwear.
Although the company has yet to provide details, it noted that assets available on the platform could be used in digital games or “other immersive environments”. Although registration for.SWOOSH opens November 18, the first digital collection will not be made available until January 2019. The company will offer content creators the opportunity to enter a contest in which they can create virtual goods and get royalties.
Last year, the company acquired RTFKT Studios, a developer of virtual NFT sneakers “for the metaverse.” At that time, the initiative seemed like a profitable strategic investment, because the cryptocurrency industry was on the rise – in January, NFT sales peaked. Adidas in Germany generated $22 million in NFT sales last December, even though digital assets were sold alongside real clothing.
