SpaceX, a Texas spaceport, conducted the most ambitious test of its Starship spacecraft elements to date at Texas’ spaceport. This spacecraft is being designed for missions to Mars and the Moon. SpaceX organized simultaneous static fire testing of 14 Raptor engines that were installed on Booster 7, which is the prototype for the Super Heavy launch vehicle.
Similar tests were conducted previously, but with only 7 engines. The engines were run for 10 seconds as part of the new tests. Static fire testing is a common rocket engine testing procedure prior to actual flight—although flames erupt from the rocket engines, the structure remains anchored to the pad.
SpaceX is racing to finish the Super Heavy orbital launch with its Starship spacecraft. This configuration includes the Booster 7 firststage and the Ship 24 prototype. Musk).
Passed tests were a significant step towards achieving this goal. Despite the fact that there are now twice as many engines, it is still not enough. Booster 7 is expected to eventually have 33 engines. This was as per the design. Ship 24 received 6 engines. These engines were already tested in static fire testing on September 8th.
Starship will be used for space flights to Mars and the Moon. However, it can also be used for many other tasks including launch large quantities of satellites into space. SpaceX even claims that Starship could be used to launch space observatories far larger than James Webb.
