SK Hynix announced the creation of the “world’s most fast” LPDDR5T mobile RAM. The company also revealed the technical specifications of the new generation modules and provided samples to its partners.
The new LPDDR5T data transfer rate is 9.6 Gb/s according to specifications – 13% faster that LPDDR5X. To highlight the benefits of the new standard, the company added T (Turbo), to the abbreviation. According to developers, memory chips operate in an ultra-low voltage range of 1.01 to 1.12 V. This, according to them, assures low power consumption.
Representatives of SK Hynix say that the company has already received testing modules from its partners, with a capacity 16 GB and capable of processing 77 GB (the equivalent to fifteen Full HD resolution movies) per second. The new hardware is made using HKMG technology. This involves the use of a high dielectric material within an insulating film in DRAM transistors.
SK Hynix plans mass production of LPDDR5T by using the 1anm Process (the fourth generation 10nm technology) during the second half.
