Shutterstock announced last year that Open AI and Shutterstock had entered into a partnership. The latter would integrate the two companies. to a photo service It uses its AI model DALL-E 2, to generate images from text descriptions. Shutterstock’s online design platform Creative Flow now allows users to create images from text descriptions with a DALLE 2-based tool.
The new tool allows AI-generated images to be licensed. This feature, however, appears to be unnamed. This is significant because Getty Images is currently suing images created using Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion Generative Algorithm. Developers used the Getty Images platform to train their algorithm for images. This led to the lawsuit.
Shutterstock does not intend to only use neural networks for image generation, but also to copyright all content generated in this manner. The service is now in direct competition to Getty Images. Getty Images’ owners were a side with content creators who are unhappy that their work is being used to train generative neural network. Open AI has been able to receive significant funding. Microsoft has invested $1 billion in Open AI in 2019, and the software giant recently announced plans to invest billions.
Shutterstock recently announced a partnership, in addition to Open AI, with Meta* Facebook’s owner, Platforms*Instagram* Whatsapp and Meta. Meta was also invited to this collaboration.* Shutterstock’s photo- and media library libraries will be used to create datasets for its AI algorithms. In the end, we can expect to see new tools built on generative neural networks.
