Since a while, users of iPad and iPhone have reported crashes in Safari browser. Safari does not allow for you to search words and phrases that start with certain combinations of letters. After users attempted to type three letters for certain words, the app crashed.
According to media reports the problem affected iOS 16 users as well as iOS 15 users. While the cause of the crash remains unknown, users have reported that the problem has been fixed.
Devices running iOS 15.7.1, iOS 16, iOS 16.1, iOS 16.1.1, and iOS 16.2 beta are known to crash, according to MacRumors. According to MacRumors, the browser would simply close after users tried to type Walmart in the search field.
The problem could be solved by disabling search suggestions, as it was later revealed. The problem was known to affect Latin letter combinations, including tar, bes and wal, wel, old sta, pla, and others.
The bug is believed to be in the server section of the service. Some reports claim that Apple has already addressed the issue, even without updating its operating systems. The audience for Safari browsers was 1 billion, according to reports.
