Roscosmos, the State Corporation, announced that Russia will provide complete coverage of its territory by 2030 with satellite communications, digital broadcasting, and high-speed Internet access. This includes the Arctic Zone and the Northern Sea Route.
It is believed that “Information satellite system” was founded by M. F. Reshetnev, an academician. They developed a new type of satellite for broadcasting and communication. “Ellipse” is the name of this device.
“The objective of the project was to obtain for a highly elliptical spacecraft the same indicators for service for a territory as for vehicles in geostationary satellite orbit. This includes the location of the beams in the service area, continuity of the transmission and reception of information, and the minimal requirements for ground stations to be as simple and inexpensive as possible.“, – says the publication.
The design of “Ellipse” differs from those used for stationary satellites. Its octagonal shape is almost identical to a cylindrical one. This allows the experts to ensure the best possible illumination from the Sun and solve the problem of heat removal. It will be launched into outer space via the radiator panels on the spacecraft.
“We managed to find an original solution that makes it possible to point each antenna at its given service area. The assumption is that four of these devices can provide a wide variety of telecommunications services to users throughout the Eastern and Western hemispheres. This includes Russia and the Arctic Ocean. The message notes.
