On Wednesday, NetEase, the Chinese games distributor, reported that Activision Blizzard had abandoned its proposed scheme. It would have meant that a multiyear partnership in China’s Chinese market would be extended by 6 months until the American company locates a new partner. Reuters claims that representatives from both sides have offered clarifications on the matter.
NetEase described the refusal to renew Blizzard’s licensing as “unfair” along with the partner’s “ride for no cost” reasoning.
