Intel has hired an experienced leader. Vivian Lien, Vice President and General manager of Intel’s Graphics Division, announced her appointment.I cannot wait to start the Intel Arc Graphics company”, she wrote on Linked In, and promised that “More to come».
Lien will be promoting Intel’s next generation Arc Battlemage discrete graphic cards and encouraging Intel’s off the-shelf computer partners to include these products in their systems. Intel Arc Battlemage is expected to be an extension of Alchemist, and compete with NVIDIA and AMD products.
Lien was appointed to a top position at Intel because of her extensive gaming PC business experience. Lien spent a decade at Corsair, and earned her reputation for her long-term and successful work at ASUS. As a marketing manager, she also managed the components and PC sales. Lien was instrumental in making ASUS one of the leading suppliers of gaming components and PCs. Lien has served as Dell’s vice-president of Alienware, Dell Gaming, for several years. This is an individual with a wealth of experience in the promotion, development, and sale of gaming components.
If Intel is serious about commercializing its discrete graphic cards, then it makes sense to hire someone who’s sold parts and PCs. Vivien’s appointment also puts an end to persistent rumors about the reduction or curtailment in development of Intel Arc discrete graphs business.
