Sabrent and Phison are Collaborating to Release New Solid State Drives with PCI Express 5.0 Support
Sabrent, a leading manufacturer of computer peripherals, is partnering with SSD controller developer Phison to release new solid state drives that support PCI Express 5.0 technology. These new drives will be capable of transferring data at speeds up to 14 GB/s.
What is PCIe 5.0?
PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) is a high-speed serial bus standard used in modern computers for connecting peripheral devices such as graphics cards, network adapters, and storage devices.
The latest version of this standard – PCIe 5.0 – was released in May 2019 by the PCI-SIG (Special Interest Group), which oversees the development of the specification.
This updated version doubles the transfer rate per lane compared to its predecessor – PCIe Gen4 – from approximately 16 GT/s (gigatransfers per second) to 32 GT/s.
