For 17 years, Apple has released the Mac mini with no major design changes. YouTuber Luke Miani presented his “restyling” mini-PC to rectify this oversight. An enthusiast inserted the hardware of a Mac mini with an M1 Chip into an old Nintendo Wii. The blogger had to play around a lot, but the end result was worth it.
The blogger claims that Mac mini can be used for retro games once it has been “finished the file”. He had to solder his Mac power supply and then 3D print an adapter to attach Mac components to the Nintendo Wii Case.
The author of the video also upgraded the standard cooling systems. The old cooler was too big to accommodate the new hardware. Miani was also faced with a problem due to misalignment between the HDMI port, and the holes in his set-topbox. But, he managed to combine all components and build a computer that is almost indistinguishable.
The enthusiast claims that Mac mini runs flawlessly in the new case. The custom build had one negative, which was an increased CPU heating. Therefore, benchmarks show a slight drop in performance.
