Compact crossover with decent wheelbase
The parameters of the Smart #3 crossover have been classified by the Chinese Ministry of Industry. This is the result of a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz, Geely and Geely. The first was responsible to design the exterior and interior, and the second for the production of the units.
Smart #3 is based upon the SEA platform. It has built a lot of cars in a variety bodies, including Lotus Eletre and Polestar 3. Smart #1 was also built on this platform. Smart #3 was noticeably larger than Smart #1. It measures 4400 x 1844x 1556mm and has a good 2785mm wheelbase.
Base crossover has rear-wheel drive and an electric motor of 272 horsepower. The top version has two electric engines. They are both full-sized and produce 428 hp. The car can’t be described as light. Its curb weight is between 1740 and 1890 kg depending upon the model.
The Chinese regulator claims that Sunwoda and CALB were the suppliers of traction batteries to Smart #3. However, there are no details on the range.
