Startup Frore Systems will present a chip that actively cools laptops at CES 2023. This is a small step towards making a big change. AirJet is a new chip that can replace traditional coolers and performs its job much more efficiently. It is not just an idea, it is a ready-made solution. Soon, the first devices will be available.
AirJet is described by the manufacturer to be a solid-state cooling system. Tiny membranes inside the AirJet vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies. This creates an airflow that flows through the vents and then exits the side after cooling. It measures just 2.8mm in thickness. This solution is also dustproof so it won’t lose its performance over time like coolers.
AirJet Mini is for smaller laptops; AirJet Pro, for more powerful laptops and handheld games consoles.
Frore Systems demonstrated the new technology by displaying a modified Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro notebook. The company claims that the AirJet Mini chips are 25% more quiet than traditional coolers, take up less space, and allow the processor to run at a higher power (17W vs. 15.W). These chips are quieter than traditional coolers and consume less space. Four of them provide 20W power.
It should be mentioned that Frore Systems works with Intel and Qualcomm. AirJet chips are one of the requirements to purchase Intel Evo laptops. In the next few months, the first commercial devices will become available.
